On my 27th birthday in July, I spent some time in meditation and deep thought, journaled, and arrived at four themes that I felt would guide me through the next year of my life. I didn’t realise how quickly and deeply they would shape my actions and what would come into my life after declaring them to the Universe.
Last week, when I realised how much they have influenced the things that are happening in my life, I posted on Facebook about it (see right). One of my friends commented that they were my “Core Desired Feelings”, and I had a bit of an ‘Aha!’ moment… so these are what everyone has been talking about… these themes are my Core Desired Feelings!
What are Core Desired Feelings?
Danielle LaPorte describes the way we set goals as “upside down”, and asks;
What if, first, we got clear on how we actually wanted to feel in our life, and then we laid out our intentions?
So by focusing on how you want to feel once you reach your end goal, the actions taken to reach it are flexible, it will be easier to say yes or no to opportunities that arise, and you will feel better about everything you do. Sounds amazing, doesn’t it!
Last Friday in our coaching session, I shared this revelation with the wonderful Tara and while she was super-stoked for me, she called me out on one thing.
Confidence: go deeper.
What!? If I want to feel confident then isn’t that it?
What does confidence feel like, what is underneath that?
Far out, lady. I sat on it, straight after our session actually. I was frustrated that I thought I had nailed that feeling but there was something more to it.
It came to me quickly, though. Action. Through action I gain confidence, but I can’t wait for confidence before I take action (anymore). With action comes practice and with practice comes confidence. If I don’t take action then I will stay hidden in myself and never feel that confidence. Damn it! So now, the Core Desired Feelings I have pinned up are: Grace, Freedom, Intuition, Action.
